Writing has always been something I loved to do. I love putting my opinions out there for other people to read. Creative Writing has taught me a lot. I learned how to not be afraid to express my feelings. I also learned how to use my imagination and put it down on paper. Creative writing class taught me to pay attention to extreme detail. For example, if you are trying to write about falling in love, avoid writing about how great that love is or how handsome he may be; write about his hands. Mrs. Wallbaum taught me that it will make the story more interesting, and from experiencing it myself, it does.

Mrs. Wallbaum wanted us to write a paper about our lives and certain memories. To help us think of all of these memories she had us make some sort of timeline to show our favorite memories. While making this, I realized how much time has gone by. I made the timeline resemble a tree. I started at the base of the tree and put “My birth: July 20th, 1998”, then I moved up to the first arm of the tree and said “First steps: 2000”, next to that I put “Disney Land: 2003”; and made all the way up the branch. Once I finished the branch, I made a new one, then another, then another, until the whole tree was finished. I chose this work because it showed how much I’ve grown. This assignment will help me as a young adult by making me appreciate more. It will make me realize how little time I have. It’s really easy for me to complain about stupid things that don’t really matter. This assignment really helped me not do that.

Another assignment that Mrs. Wallbaum had us do is write a fiction story. My story was about a family that was in a spaceship crash and was stuck on a cold, wet planet for sixteen years. After the death of their father, they finally decided to leave the ship. As they went to explore the planet, they realized some guy was following them. The story starts getting suspenseful when they kept on tripping while they were running away. At the end, they realize the guy was just trying to help them. My teacher taught me how to add more sensory detail to the story so it is more creative and descriptive. I chose this assignment because this was the first fiction story I have ever written. This will help me when I become a therapist because it taught me to pay attention to extreme detail. So when it comes to diagnosing my patients, I will use the details I notices to do so.
